What do you remember about the month of October?

If you were to ask someone what they remember about the month of October  its likely they would think of the Bavarian tradition of Octoberfest and beer drinking. This tradition has its roots from the celebration of the marriage of the Crown prince of Bavaria on 1810. However as Christian October has an entirely different meaning for us and one of great profundity and it is also has historical roots.

In 1571 Pope Pius V asked all the faithful pray the rosary, requesting the intercession of the Blessed Mother for protection over the coming battle with the  Islamic Ottoman Empire. The fate of western Europe depended upon the success of Christians in this navy battle, which involved more than 400 warships .

What was the result of the faithful and the Rosary?  At the end of the Battle of Lepanto, the Holy League was victorious and the maritime expansion of the Ottoman Empire was permanently prevented.

With Prayer , with the Holy Rosary we can ask God to change the course of Human history even our personal history!

Are you  facing a battle with adult children leaving the faith, marital break down, financial hardships, or even facing a terminal illness in loneliness and isolation and fear? October should remind us that even in the darkest hour , the most direst of need, Jesus is with us, Mary is with us. We need only ask,  and pray the Rosary. Dont you have time for such a great gift?

Our great adversary the Devil will stop you from praying, with all kind of obstacles for he knows the great power of this prayer. October is your time to connect with Jesus to ask Mary for assistance. October is a time to remember that God, the Father, Jesus and Mary intervene in  our history , your personal history.
