Lent in 2025

Its profound comment from saint Maximilian first rule of holiness is that you must be a saint. This seems an impossibility in world fully corrupted by sin & vices of every imagination.

And yet this is the ultimate end of our lives . The. true calling of the Holy Spirit ,the and the Love concretely manifested on Calvary. Lent is the time to refocus our lives far away from the worldly darkness and more importantly our selves.

And we are frail yet the means to achieve holiness this lent are open again through confession, repentance of our sins starting a new.

How do we confess?

Confession has several components firstly we must have “detestation for the sin committed” CCC(1451) and then sacramental disclosure of sins that ” frees us and facilitates our reconciliation with others” CCC(1455).

Disclosure is the the most difficult part we just don’t want to say it! Teams of wild horses drag us away from the life giving  grace of the confessional or anything else that we undertake to keep us busy. Perhaps we don’t think we are  breaking any of the ten commandments. Fr Mike Schmitz has a golden saying below:

“Is God the center of your life? If not, you should confess that first” Fr Mike Schmitz

If your still having difficult about the confession thing its biblical See John chapter 20 . There is also a great web site  called  https://goodconfession.com/ have a look it may change your life this lent too!

Remember your are not alone in your journey towards Jesus. Here is always waiting for you to take the steps , watching patiently guiding and rejoicing when you open your heart to Him.

“Accept the risen Jesus into your life. Even if you have been far away, take small steps towards him. He awaits you with open arms.”
Pope Francis 2013
